Look who is back! Ricky Gervais, the enfant terrible of the Golden Globes, is set to return as host of the awards show January 10. Gervais was the first emcee in a very long time for the Globes when he was tapped for the gig in 2010. He shocked Hollywood with his pointed barbs, making headlines, drawing big ratings and leading to then-HFPA President Phillip Berk’s comment after the 2011 show that The Office star had “crossed the line.” But Gervais was back by popular demand for one more hosting turn in 2012 before he passed the baton to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who hosted the event the last three years to strong review.

Corinne Foxx, daughter of Golden Globe winner and two-time Golden Globe nominee Jamie Foxx, is our Miss Golden Globe 2016. A senior at the University of Southern California, Corinne recently shot a campaign for accessory line The Icing. HFPA President Lorenzo Soria made the announcement this evening at the first party of the 2016 Golden Globe Awards Season, hosted by the HFPA and InStyle, at Ysabel West Hollywood.


“We are delighted to have Corinne Foxx continue the tradition and have her as our 2016 Miss Golden Globe,” said Soria. “Like her father, she leads a fine example of following her dreams and we can’t wait to see what she does next.”

“Throughout the years I’ve grown up watching my dad establish himself as a well-respected actor,” said Foxx. “I’m honored that HFPA has given me the opportunity to now share the same stage where he’s been recognized for some of his greatest accomplishments.

Chosen by the HFPA, the honoree is traditionally the son or daughter of one of the industry's most respected actors/actresses/directors/producers of our time and assists during the Golden Globe Awards ceremony. The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards will air LIVE coast-to-coast on NBC from 8:00-11:00 p.m. (EST)/5:00-8:00 p.m. (PST) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel with host Ricky Gervais.

The 2016 Golden Globe nominees were publicized Thursday via live-stream this morning by Chloe Grace Moretz, Dennis Quaid, America Ferrara and Angela Bassett, and included some surprises, as well as some stars getting passed over that had been expected to get a nomination. This is the 73rd year for the Golden Globes awards.

Leading Golden Globe nominees:

Leading the Golden Globe nominees this year with five, including one for best dramatic picture, was Todd Haynes’ 1950s style romance “Carol.” Other best picture nominees include “Mad Max: Fury Road,” as well as “Room,” “The Revenant,” and “Spotlight.”

Next in line for the most nominations was Adam Kay’s “The Big Short,” a financial comedy. It got nominations for best comedy picture. “Spotlight,” Tom McCarthy’s “Boston Globe” drama, got three nominations, including best director and best screenplay.

Several films got four nominations for Golden Globes

Tied with “The Big Short,” with four nominations was the follow up to “Birdman,” “The Revenant,” by Alejandro Inarritu. It was nominated for best picture, as well as best drama, best original score and Leonardo DiCaprio, who stars in it, is one of the Golden Globe nominees for best actor.

Yet another film that was nominated for four Golden Globe awards was “Steve Jobs,” by Aaron Sorkin.

Six streaming series tied for TV awards

Six streaming series from online venues Netflix, Amazon and Hulu were the heavy nominees for TV awards. Six shows that got the most nominations included “Fargo,” as well as ‘’Mr. Robot,” Starz time travel romance “Outlander,” along with ‘Transparent,” and “American Crime,” as well as “Wolf Hall.”

Some expected to get nominated were passed over, others predicted to were chosen

Actors Michael Keaton and Mark Ruffalo are evidently having a bad year, as they were passed over for not just the Golden Globe nominations, but also for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Still, Ruffalo did get the nod for a nomination for his role in “Infinitely Polar Bear” as a bipolar father.

In the area of those expected to get nominated, the space movie “The Martian,” got chosen, along with its star performer Matt Damon and its director Ridley Scot, as well as the movie, “Joy” by David O. Russell getting a nomination for best picture, as well as best comedy and for Jennifer Lawrence as best actress.

George Miller got nominated for best director for “Mad Max: Fury Road,” and “Room,” an adaptation of the novel by Emma Donoghue, helped star Brie Larson get a nomination for best actress in a drama.

These are but a few of the great actors, actresses, directors, movies and shows that are nominated and have a chance to win as Golden Globe nominees.

The 2016 Golden Globes nominations will be announced at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday, and Gossip Cop has a live streaming

Angela Bassett, Chloe Grace Moretz, Dennis Quaid, and America Ferrera will all participate in the event, revealing the nominees in more than 20 different categories spanning film and television. They’ll be joined by Corinne Foxx, the daughter of Jamie Foxx, who was recently announced as Miss Golden Globe for the 73rd annual Golden Globes ceremony. Bassett is a Golden Globes winner, as is Ferrera, while Quaid is a former nominee.

As Gossip Cop reported, it was announced in October that Ricky Gervais will once again host the 2016 Golden Globes. The comedian, a three-time Golden Globes winner, previously emceed the awards show in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosted in 2013 and 2014.

The Golden Globes nominations reveal follows two other such announcements this week. As Gossip Cop reported, the 2016 Grammy Awards nominees were unveiled on Monday. And on Wednesday, the Screen Actors Guild revealed the 2016 SAG Awards nominees.

The 2016 Golden Globes will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 10. But first, the nominees must be announced! The nominations live stream is expected to begin at 8:15 a.m. Eastern Time. Stay tuned!

Look who is back! Ricky Gervais, the enfant terrible of the Golden Globes, is set to return as host of the awards show January 10. Gervais was the first emcee in a very long time for the Globes when he was tapped for the gig in 2010. He shocked Hollywood with his pointed barbs, making headlines, drawing big ratings and leading to then-HFPA President Phillip Berk’s comment after the 2011 show that The Office star had “crossed the line.” But Gervais was back by popular demand for one more hosting turn in 2012 before he passed the baton to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who hosted the event the last three years to strong reviews.


Gervais had vowed to never host the Globes again. Still, he has been a standout as a presenter at every awards show he has attended, with his bits going viral, keeping him very much in the conversation for any top awards-show hosting gigs. The HFPA is expected to announce his return as Golden Globes host shortly with a tease (on left).

“Tina and Amy are a hard act to follow but Ricky is completely fearless and entirely up for the job,” NBC’s president of alternative and late-night Paul Telegdy said. “He always did us proud. Welcome back, Ricky.”

I hear Gervais was approached to return by NBC, with the support of the HFPA and dick clark prods., which produces the telecast. After some soul searching, Gervais sparked to the challenge.

“Ricky Gervais left us with a lasting impression and we are thrilled to have him back in our show as we honor the best in film and television,” said HFPA president Lorenzo Soria. “His off-the-cuff wit and quirky charm will surely have the room and audiences around the world at the edge of their seats.
